Thammudu Twitter Review: Fans Call Nithiin’s Film A 'Disaster'
ABP Live Entertainment | July 4, 2025 9:11 PM CST

Nithiin’s newest film 'Thammudu', directed by Venu Sriram, hit theatres this Friday, but the buzz online has been far from unified. The title , borrowed from Pawan Kalyan’s iconic 1999 sports drama, raised eyebrows even before release, and reactions from audiences on X (formerly Twitter) reveal a polarized response. While some praised the emotional core and action sequences, others were left disappointed, pointing fingers at outdated storytelling and sluggish execution.

Viewers Slam Slow Pace and Outdated Script

A major chunk of early reactions have not been kind to the film. Frustration over the story’s predictability and pacing seems to be a recurring theme. One user posted, “#Thammudu Worst! Thanks to #Nithin for continuously reminding me that I am an idiot to watch his movies on premiere night. The movie neither had emotional drama nor action as they ‘promised’.”

Another added a critique aimed at both the actor and director, “Sorry @actor_nithiin & #SriramVenu. This team should really consider time travel to at least to 2020 from 2005 scripts… Slow-paced and predictable scenes.” There was also a reference to Kaithi, suggesting Thammudu attempted a similar tone but failed to deliver. “Oka racy film thiyyali... madhyalo songs, comedy petti dhobbinchuko kudhadhu,” wrote another disappointed viewer.

A Glimmer of Positivity from Some Fans

Not all reviews were dismissive. A few fans appreciated the emotional undertones and action in the second half. One user wrote, “#thammudu is not bad. Could have been better...it is an okayish brother-sister drama …1.75 antha disaster ayithe kaadu.”

Another noted, “Superb first half #Thammudu. Second half has excellent fight sequences… Overall good movie. One time watch. Must in Theaters.” A more supportive review praised the production values and cast performances, “Youth Star @actor_nithiin has given one of the career best performance with a good comeback film.” Praise was also directed at the background score by Ajaneesh B Loknath.

Nithiin’s Box Office Struggles Continue?

Nithiin, who last appeared in Robinhood, has not had the smoothest run at the box office in recent years. Despite the high expectations from Thammudu, especially due to its legacy title, it appears the film has struggled to strike a chord with a large segment of the audience.

Whether Thammudu manages to turn around the tide in the coming days or adds to the actor’s streak of underwhelming releases remains to be seen. For now, social media suggests it's a love-it-or-leave-it experience.
