Legal Action Against Medical Council's Decision
On Friday, Shantanu Sen, a former Rajya Sabha member from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), approached the Kolkata High Court seeking permission to file a petition against the West Bengal Medical Council's decision to suspend his registration as a doctor for two years.
Justice Amrita Sinha granted Sen the permission to proceed with his petition, stating that the hearing will take place on Monday.
Sudipto Roy, the chairman of the council, indicated that Sen's suspension was due to allegations of making unfounded claims regarding his foreign medical degree during practice.
Sen's attorney argued in court that the council failed to inform Sen about the suspension decision, and he learned about it through media reports.
The former TMC MP's lawyer further mentioned that during a council meeting on Thursday, Sen had submitted the necessary documents and responded to inquiries related to his degree.
