Purnia MP Pappu Yadav has called for a Bihar bandh on 9 July against the special intensive revision of the voter list before the Bihar assembly elections. He said on Friday that the office of the Election Commission will also be surrounded on that day.
Along with this, in an appeal made to the people on social media, Pappu said that 'Blo (booth level officer) is also his siblings. He is calling us and telling us, he is also under the severe pressure of the government. They are being tortured for voter revision. If that village comes home, do not let them do any work with love.
Describing it as a conspiracy against crores of voters of Bihar, Pappu Yadav said that misuse of constitutional institutions would not be tolerated. If there is any disturbance in the name of the poor, then you will fight by giving up their lives. If the Commission makes any disturbance in the name of the poor, then they will fight the fight against them. He told that he is going to have a conversation with the Congress in -charge on this issue today. Along with this, the public has also appealed that the time has come to play a decisive role against such institutional disturbances.
Pappu alleged that the NDA government is taking away our democratic rights. Voting is the fundamental right of every man. The government wants to take away the right to vote for poor Dalits and backwards through the Election Commission. I like to die, but if someone snatches the interest of Biharis, it does not like it.
Pappu Yadav said in a press conference on this whole issue, 'On July 9, we will close the entire Bihar. We will surround the Election Commission office. We are going to the High Court today, will file a case. We are with the Congress in this entire fight.
The Election Commission ordered a special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar on 24 June 2025, which will run from 25 June to 25 July 2025. Under this process, about 8 crore voters of Bihar will have to submit documents to prove their citizenship and eligibility, such as birth certificate, passport, original residence certificate, or any government document issued before 1 July 1987.
