Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has stirred fresh controversy with a provocative statement on the ongoing Marathi language debate, just hours after his party workers allegedly vandalised the office of economist Sushil Kedia in Mumbai. Raj Thackeray said that if the party workers beat someone they should not record videos of it.
Raj Thackeray said, as per ANI: “Be it Gujarati or anyone else, they must know Marathi. But there is no need to beat people for that. However, if someone creates unnecessary drama, then yes—hit them below the ears. One more thing: if you beat someone, don’t shoot videos of it. Let the person who was beaten say he was beaten; you don’t need to announce it.”

The remarks came on the heels of a violent incident where MNS cadres allegedly attacked Kedia’s office, following his public declaration that he would not learn Marathi in protest against what he called the MNS chief’s "gross misconduct." Kedia, a longtime Mumbai resident and founder of Kedionomics, had posted a series of critical statements on social media earlier this week.
