Punjab Govt To Introduce Anti-Sacrilege Law In Spl Assembly Session On July 10–11

In a major move to address rising public concerns over religious sacrilege, the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government has announced it will introduce and pass a new law against sacrilege during a special session of the state legislative assembly scheduled for July 10 and 11.

The legislation aims to enforce stricter punishments for acts that hurt religious sentiments—a long-pending demand in Punjab, where sacrilege incidents have sparked widespread outrage over the years.

Kejriwal, Mann Launch ‘Fast Track Punjab’ Portal

Separately, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, launched the “Fast Track Punjab” portal in Mohali earlier this week. The initiative is aimed at simplifying and accelerating procedures for business setup and industrial expansion in the state.

Describing it as a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, Kejriwal said the portal would cut red tape and reflect a “pro-development, pro-industry” approach that is distinct from mainstream political governance in the country.
