At least 18 people on a Ryanair Boeing 737 aircraft were injured after a fire alert prompted them to jump from the wings of the plane at the Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) in Spain.
The incident took place shortly after midnight on Saturday, just when the Manchester-bound plane was about to take off. The fire alert triggered an evacuation, following which the panicked passengers began jumping from the plane's wing to save themselves.
Although the flight was evacuated, it is said to have caused "moments of great tension" with flyers, who were seen jumping from the plane's wing reportedly "acting out of fear."
The footage of the incident has surfaced online. It has captured passengers exiting the plane by jumping from its wing onto the tarmac, even as emergency services, including police and firefighters responded in time.

Several passengers sustained injuries due to jumping from the wing. However, they were escorted back to the terminal safely. The rest of the passengers are said to have evacuated the aircraft in a more orderly manner, Mirror reported.
The injured passengers are receiving treatment for "minor injuries". Six of them were admitted to a hospital, and three others were taken to a private medical facility. Three more were admitted to Hospital Quironsalud Palmplanas in the island's capital, the report said.
Following the incident, Ryanair attributed the disruption in the flight to a "false fire warning" and apologised for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. It also said that a replacement aircraft was arranged to minimise disruption to passengers.
"A flight from Palma to Manchester, on July 4, discontinued take-off due to a false fire warning light indication. Passengers were disembarked using the inflatable slides and returned to the terminal," the airline's statement read.
"While disembarking, a small number of passengers encountered very minor injuries (ankle sprains, etc.) and crew requested immediate medical assistance. To minimise disruption to passengers, we quickly arranged a replacement aircraft to operate this flight, which departed Palma at 07:05 this morning," it added.
