It can be nice to visit lesser-known cities across Europe as they tend to be quieter and cleaner. A social media influencer, who has visited over 50 cities across the continent, has revealed which ones he believes is the most underrated.
ScottVisits, who has over 150,000 followers on Instagram, shared a list of six cities which he thinks are the most underrated. It featured Mostar in Bosnia, Annecy in France, Ksamil in Albania and Tivat in Montenegro. However, at the top of the list was a charming city in Slovenia.

Ljubljana is a picturesque town that boasts a rich culture. It has a host of museums, galleries and theatres for visitors to enjoy, as well as numerous annual events and festivals.
The Slovenian capital is a small city which makes it easy to explore on foot. The old town is popular amongst tourists who admire its canals, bridges, and traditional buildings.
In his post on Instagram, ScottVisits said Ljubljana is among the "cleanest and safest" places he has visited. He described it as a "true hidden gem" where there are no overwhelming crowds.
The Ljubljanica River flows through the heart of the city and makes for the perfect route for cyclists and walkers to follow. The river is lined by cafes and there are also frequent street parties.
Ljubljana is a relatively affordable city compared to other European capitals. This makes it a good option for budget travellers as they can still enjoy local attractions.
It is also the perfect base for exploring the rest of Slovenia. Ljubljana is located less than hour drive away from the famous Lake Bled and around two hours from the Julian Alps.
According to travel guide publisher Lonely Plant, the must-see attractions in the city include the Ljubljana Castle, the Triple Bridge and the National Museum of Slovenia. The Town Hall and the Dragon Bridge are also iconic attractions.
The Ljubljanica Castle, which dates back to the early 16th century, stands on a hill overlooking the city. It's free for visitors to walk around the castle grounds but costs to enter the Watchtower and the Chapel of St George.
The National Museum of Slovenia is also located in Ljubljana. It is located in a grand 19th century building and houses Roman jewellery in 6th century Slavic graves.
On Ljubljana, travel writer Rudolf Abraham said: "With a wonderfully atmospheric old town lorded over by an imposing hilltop castle and carved in half by the lazy artery of the River Ljubljanica, the Slovenian capital is packed with museums, wonderful architecture, green spaces and some fantastic places to eat and drink."
