One of the most intriguing rumour that caught everyones eye was her alleged relationship with Indian film legend Kamal Haasan. Reports suggest that while shooting for Yash Chopras Silsila Rekha had also signed a Tamil film titled Meendum Kokila with Haasan and Sridevi in 1981. The two allegedly developed a close bond during the shoot which went unfamiliar by many at that time. However things escalated when Kamals then-wife Vani Ganapathy caught them red-handed together in a hotel room. What journalist had to say? According to Rediffs report a Tamil Journalist once talked about the matter concerning Haasan and Rekha. He had said In late 1979 I was working at the Hotel Chola Sheraton in Chennai. One night when I reported for work I found the place in a tizzy. As the girls in reception told the story Kamal Haasan and Rekha Ganesan were in the latter’s room in the hotel when Kamal’s then-wife Vani Ganapathy landed up and gave her husband a public dressing down. Reports than soon emerged that Rekha was replaced by Malayalam actress Deepa in the project. However neither Rekha nor Kamal has ever addressed this incident publicly and it still remains unclear. In 1988 Kamal Haasan officially ended his 10-year marriage with Vani Ganapathy. Their marriage began to face troubles after Kamal started working closely with actress Sarika. Eventually reports came out that Sarika was pregnant with Kamals child. They have two daughters- Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan.
