
Just a week after the release of Panchayat Season 4 Prime Video has officially announced Season 5 of the rural political satire series. While Season 4 landed on June 24 and even made it to the Top 10 in over 42 countries (including the US UK Canada Australia and UAE) the excitement seems to be wearing thin for some fans. The plot has become too weak in the last two seasons.” A sharper comment read: “Make it so dull that no one even waits for Season 5.”One more warned “Please don’t turn this into Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.” Despite the backlash loyal fans still celebrated the news calling the series a breath of fresh air in the OTT space. A small-town story that went global Panchayat first aired in 2018 and slowly built a cult following. Produced by The Viral Fever (TVF) the series has been lauded for its relatable portrayal of life in rural India quirky characters and understated humour. Season 2 (2023) even bagged multiple awards. Created by Chandan Kumar and directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and Akshat Vijayvargiya the ensemble cast includes Jitendra Kumar Neena Gupta Raghubir Yadav Faisal Malik Chandan Roy Sanvikaa Durgesh Kumar Sunita Rajwar Ashok Pathak and Pankaj Jha.
