What do experts say?
Dr. Praveen Kumar, who is in the Dental Department of Max Hospital, says in a podcast interview on the Health OPD YouTube channel that our teeth are the part of our body that needs to be the most protected. They say, oral health is not only limited to teeth and gum problems, but it can give rise to serious diseases. He told how our teeth can also become a cause of diseases like cancer.
Relationship of teeth and cancer
According to Dr. Praveen, if the mouth cleaning and teeth are not taken care of regularly, there may be inflammation in the gums and other infections. Over time, this infection can take the form of chronic inflammation, which can cause cancer by damaging the DNA of our skin cells. This causes the highest risk of oral cancer. People who eat tobacco, betel nut and consume excessive alcohol, damage their teeth and gum health. These habits not only weaken the gums, but also give rise to cancer -causing bacteria. Doctors say that by chewing these things, many times there is a cut inside the cheeks, in which cancer starts forming.
