Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz said they want to use the R. Premadasa Stadium conditions.
Bangladesh brought in Shamim Hossain and dropped Litton Das for this game. They made two changes: Shamim replaced Litton, and Hasan Mahmud replaced Taskin Ahmed.
Taskin took 4 wickets in the last match, but he is still recovering from an injury. Bangladesh rested him to manage his workload with the Asia Cup coming up.
Litton has not been doing well in ODIs. In the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka, he was out for a duck. In his last 6 ODI innings, Litton has scored only 6 runs, so he was dropped due to poor performance. Bangladesh wants to strengthen their middle order. Also, dropping him could be a tactic to add a left-handed batsman to play against Sri Lanka’s spinners, Dunith Wellalage and Hasaranga.
