According to Dimsum DailyWong, who was convicted on five charges, was deported upon her release on Monday and entered mainland China through the Shenzhen Bay Immigration Control Point.
A mainland Chinese national, Wong was arrested in Feb. 2024 for overstaying her Hong Kong tourist visa. Her legal troubles deepened in May 2024 when she was found to have used fraudulent U.S. aviation college graduation certificates to apply under Hong Kong’s Mainland Talents and Professionals Scheme. In June 2024, she was sentenced to prison for five offenses, including document forgery and submitting false information. She pleaded guilty and accepted her sentence.
Witnesses reported seeing Lee at the immigration hall in Shenzhen at around 2 p.m. on Monday, holding a bouquet of pink roses, eagerly awaiting his fiancée’s arrival. After a short wait, Wong emerged from the passageway, and Lee called out, “Darling! Darling!” The couple shared a heartfelt embrace.
In an interview with local media, Lee expressed his joy, saying: “I am extremely happy because I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long.”
“I can’t wait to see what she would like to eat, and then take her out for a meal,” he added. “I’ll make sure she looks beautiful.”
Previously, Lee revealed that he and Wong planned to register their marriage shortly after her release and take their wedding photos during a honeymoon trip.
At 75, Lee is best known for his roles in TVB dramas such as “The Return of the Condor Heroes,” “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer,” “Journey to the West,” and “Forensic Heroes.” He has three adult children from a previous marriage in the 1970s—each of whom is older than Wong.
Lee and Wong, now 38, met in 2016 when he was 66. The couple had originally planned to wed in late 2023 but postponed the ceremony following the death of Wong’s father.
