
Brasilia: According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India and Brazil oppose terrorism with “zero tolerance and zero double standards,” and their expanding defense cooperation is a “symbol of deep mutual trust.”

Following delegation-level discussions with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Tuesday (local time), PM Modi made a joint press statement, saying, “We have a shared strategy in the battle against terrorism: zero tolerance and zero double standards. We are certain that when it comes to terrorism, there is no room for discrimination. We vehemently condemn terrorism and those who encourage it.
“The strong mutual trust between our two nations is reflected in our expanding defense cooperation. We will keep working to further solidify this collaboration and link our defense industry. Our partnership in supercomputers and artificial intelligence is growing. This embodies our common goal of human-centered innovation and inclusive growth,” he said.
PM Modi also thanked President Lula during the meeting for expressing sympathy with the Indian people and denouncing the April 22 Pahalgam incident.
PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to combating terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations, according to Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Secretary (East) P. Kumaran, who was speaking at a special press conference on the Prime Minister’s state visit to Brazil.
Regarding security and terrorism, the Prime Minister thanked President Lula for firmly denouncing the Pahalgam terror assault on April 22 that claimed the lives of 26 innocent people and for offering the Indian people support and solidarity. Additionally, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations. In the battle against the threat of terrorism, President Lula pledged his unwavering support, Kumaran said.
Agriculture, food and nutritional security, energy transformation and climate change, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and other new technologies and industrial collaborations were among the topics that PM Modi and President Lula addressed, according to Kumaran.
“Both presidents spoke about every aspect of the alliance during the bilateral discussions. I’ll attempt to enumerate some of the main topics that were covered. It encompasses defense and security; agriculture, food, and nutritional security; energy transformation and climate change; digital transformation; artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies; commercial and private sector collaboration, including trade and investments; and industrial partnerships, including defense, critical minerals, oil and gas, bioenergy, and pharmaceutical industries. They also got a chance to discuss tourism, space, science and technology, healthcare and traditional medicine, and collaboration in the field of digital public infrastructure,” he added.
India and Brazil inked a number of agreements, including one on collaboration in the fight against transnational organized crime and international terrorism, the MEA Secretary stated.
On Tuesday (local time), PM Modi and Brazilian President Lula met at Brasilia’s Alvorada Palace. On Tuesday, he was welcomed with great ceremony at Brazil’s Alvorada Palace.
At the request of Brazilian President Lula, PM Modi was in Brazil on a state visit. PM Modi met with President Lula and went to Rio de Janeiro for the BRICS Summit while he was there. During the BRICS Summit, PM Modi also met bilaterally with a number of foreign leaders.
