Amazon has slashed the price of a Meta Quest headset to a record low price in the Prime Day sale. The Meta Quest 3S 128GB has been reduced from £289.99 to £237.99, a £51.01 discount that beats the previous low of £249.99.
According to price tracker camelcamelcamel, the latest deal is the lowest price ever offered for the headset. It makes Amazon the most affordable option compared to Argos (£289.99), Very (£249.99) and Meta (£289.99).
Amazon has also reduced the price of the exclusive Meta Quest 3S Gorilla Tag Cardboard Hero Bundle from £289.99 to £249.99. Along with the mixed-reality headset, buyers can also claim a three-month trial of Meta Horizon+ once up and running, which provides two free games each month until cancelled.
The Meta Quest 3S was launched as a more budget-friendly version of the Meta Quest 3 (£459), but still delivers HD gameplay with a resolution of 1832x1920 pixels per eye and 128GB of storage. This is compared to 4K resolution and 512GB on the standard 3.
Despite its lower price, the 3S boasts the same Qualcomm Snapdragon processor as its more pricey counterpart, as well as the same white shell. But for gamers who prefer a more premium experience, the Meta Quest 3 is touted as the brand's 'most powerful' headset, offering a wider field of vision and a 4K+ Infinite Display.

Other standout features include rich 3D audio with enhanced sound clarity, bass performance and a 40% louder volume range compared to the previous model. According to Amazon reviews, there's not a huge difference between the Meta Quest 3 and 3S, with the standard model earning a 4.5-star average rating and the 3S sitting right behind with a 4.4.
Of the Meta Quest 3S, one five-star review said: "Definitely worth getting for new VR users. Decided on the 3S over the 3 and haven't been disappointed with that decision. Great games would highly recommend the Quest+ subscription of which you get first three months free. For those with glasses the 3S comes with a glasses spacer which is easy enough to install."
Another said: "Fantastic piece of kit for such a low price. I was really torn whether to get the 3S over the 3, but quickly found I made the right decision as this headset does not compromise on quality and performance - it truly exceeded all expectations I had. The battery life is decent, around two and a half hours continuously playing a game, but this can easily be resolved by purchasing a longer cable, as the stock cable is quite short. I can genuinely say that this was well worth the cost."
However, the same buyer noted a potential flaw, adding: "Only slight issue is the head strap isn't the most comfortable."
Another impressed gamer said: "No brainer for anyone looking to get into VR. I was unsure on purchasing a Quest in general, and almost bought a quest 3, however upon purchasing the Quest 3S I'm finding myself challenged on taking it off. Does everything it advertises and I'm constantly finding new and cool features I can do in VR or mixed reality. Many state the head strap isn't too comfortable and the battery life to be slightly mediocre. I'd pick up the BoboVR M3 Pro, a comfy head strap with detachable magnetic battery you can charge for infinite battery if you buy two."
