
Uddhav Thackeray Responds to Incident Involving MLA
Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), has commented on the incident where MLA Sanjay Gaikwad allegedly slapped a canteen worker over poor food quality. Thackeray clarified that Gaikwad is not part of his faction but belongs to the Shinde group. He expressed his belief that there is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the Chief Minister's reputation, suggesting that all actions are being taken with intent. He noted that Eknath Shinde aspired to become Chief Minister but was unsuccessful, leading to his current impatience.
Devendra Fadnavis Condemns the Assault
On Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the incident involving Sanjay Gaikwad slapping a canteen employee at the Mumbai legislators' hostel. He stated that such actions send a negative message about all legislators, implying misuse of power. Fadnavis condemned the assault, labeling it unacceptable and disrespectful.
Call for Accountability Among Legislators
The Chief Minister emphasized that Gaikwad's actions have tarnished the image of all legislators. He highlighted the need for accountability among public representatives. Fadnavis mentioned that if there are issues with the food served in the canteen, formal complaints can be made, and appropriate actions can be taken. He reiterated that the public perceives a wrong message about legislators abusing their power.
Request for Action on Legislative Housing Issues
Fadnavis urged Assembly Speaker Ram Shinde to address the issues concerning legislators' accommodations. He stressed that violence from public representatives does not convey a positive message and is a serious concern. He called on Shinde and Speaker Rahul Narvekar to take notice and act accordingly. The incident reportedly occurred after the canteen worker complained about receiving stale food.
