People in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) area witnessed an earthquake of 4.1 magnitude early Thursday morning. As of now, no casualties or damage have been reported, but authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
The National Centre for Seismology also confirmed the quake through a post on X. According to NCS, the epicentre of the 4.1 magnitude earthquake was located near Jhajjar in Haryana.
The tremors were also felt in Noida and Gurugram. Additionally, Meerut and Shamli in western Uttar Pradesh, about 200 km from the epicentre in Jhajjar, were also hit by the quake.
“…I had woken up just at the time when there was a jolt. I was scared. There was another earthquake just a few days ago. Delhi-NCR experiences earthquakes quite often. So, we should be mindful of safety and precautions," a man from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad said.
Another man from Ghaziabad said that the tremors felt were quite strong. “I was at a shop when it hit, it felt as if someone was shaking the shop," he added.
“We felt the tremors…It was really scary, my vehicle shook. It was really strong…" a man in Delhi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“People in Gurugram & Delhi NCR rushing out of their homes right now after experiencing strong tremors of an earthquake!" another wrote.
People took to social media to post about the earthquake and how they responded to it, many of them underlined how long it felt.
