Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her Karachi apartment, almost a year after she reportedly passed away. Her body was discovered by police and a court officer last week during an eviction due to unpaid rent.
The 32-year-old, who was living alone and had little contact with her family or neighbours, had not been seen for months. Her death went unnoticed until police entered her apartment.

The initial post-mortem report paints a harrowing picture of what investigators found. Forensic teams confirmed that Humaira’s body was in an “advanced stage of decomposition.” Her facial features were completely unrecognisable, and some internal organs had turned into a “black-coloured mass.”
According to the report, major portions of the body had deteriorated. Some bones began to “disintegrate upon touch,” and parts were “entirely devoid of muscle.” The brain matter had fully decomposed through autolysis. Although her head and spine were still intact, the spinal cord was no longer present.

The post-mortem also documented the presence of brown-coloured insects, especially in her hair. However, notably, no maggots were found—an observation that could help determine the environmental conditions of the room during her prolonged undisturbed state.
At this point, the exact cause of death remains undetermined due to the level of decomposition. Officials are awaiting DNA profiling and toxicology results that may offer clearer insights.
Humaira’s Remains Sent to Lahore for Final Rites
Authorities and the public alike are now asking how Humaira’s disappearance went unnoticed for so long. With no friends or family checking in, and minimal interaction with neighbours, her absence tragically remained invisible for months. The incident also highlights how isolation can cloak tragedy.
Reports on Thursday confirmed that her family eventually received her remains and transported them to Lahore by ambulance for the last rites.
