New Delhi: India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah chose not to celebrate his five-wicket haul against England on Day 2 at Lords despite the feat earning him a place on the prestigious Honours Board and surpassing a long-standing record held by Kapil Dev. Having missed the second Test at Edgbaston due to workload management Bumrah returned in style for the third Test. He claimed his 15th five-wicket haul by dismissing Jofra Archer in the second session on Friday with a brilliant delivery that nipped back in from a good length sneaking past Archer’s hesitant defence to knock over the stumps. This was the fourth wicket Bumrah took in the morning and he ended up with a sensational spell. His genius made India dismiss England on 387 after the home team started the morning at 251-4. That would have been a lot less were it not for the key half-centuries of Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse to provide some resistance. However the initial hours of the day belonged to none other than Jasprit Bumrah who smashed a record that Kapil Dev held since 1980 of the most five-wicket hauls in overseas Tests by an Indian player. Out of them 13 have come overseas and are now more than Kapil did (12). It was also his second five wicket in a match in this series after getting one during the first Test at Headingley. He was a bit shy even when lifting his hand with the ball a symbolic way of celebrating a five-wicket haul as have been done by the great Glenn McGrath. Mohammed Siraj his pace partner noticed that Bumrah was not keen on celebrating the moment so much so that he lifted his hand and gave him a friendly salute after which the audience cheered the No. 1 ranked bowler in the world.
