Rosa Catalano is an Italian model and actress who gained media attention in the mid-2000s as Saif Ali Khan’s girlfriend shortly after his divorce from Amrita Singh. She entered his life during a transitional phase and even moved to India to support his career. Though they kept their relationship relatively private Rosa was a constant presence in Saif’s life and was often seen at public events with him. Her time in Bollywood was brief—featuring in a few music videos and reality shows—before she eventually stepped away from the limelight and returned to Europe. But it was during this period that an unexpected magazine photo shoot between Saif and Kareena Kapoor changed everything reportedly leaving Rosa upset and signalling the beginning of the end of their relationship. What happened during that photoshoot? Celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani recently spilt the beans in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. According to him Saif and Kareena first met in 2005 during a magazine shoot he was helming. What began as a professional assignment turned into something far more intense. The chemistry between the two was so palpable it was impossible to ignore — especially for Rosa who was reportedly present on set that day. Dabboo revealed “Saif’s then-girlfriend Rosa was very upset watching the shoot. The chemistry between Saif and Kareena was sizzling. She didn’t take it well.” Did that moment change everything? While sparks flew at that photoshoot it wasn’t until later — during the filming of Tashan (2008) — that Saif and Kareena truly fell in love. Still that early moment with Rosa in the backdrop remains an awkward memory in Bollywood lore. Fast-forward to 2012 Dabboo gifted Saif and Kareena a framed photo from that very shoot as a wedding present — a full-circle moment from a love triangle to a happily-ever-after. In a separate interview Rosa Catalano got candid about her breakup with Saif Ali Khan. Fighting back tears she shared that a relationship can only survive when both partners put in equal effort. She revealed that she felt like the only one trying to hold things together saying I asked myself what why and how things happened. But a person grows and realises things even though they are shocking. Plus you dont know what other people are thinking or doing. Just one person cant do that because the effort has to be from both sides. It takes two people to make something work. Otherwise its like being on the same boat where one person wants to go right and the other person wants to go left. What happened later? After parting ways with Saif Rosa continued her career in India appearing in reality shows and a few regional projects. Eventually she moved out of the Bollywood spotlight and reportedly returned to Europe.
