According to a report from Market footballOlympique de Marseille have blinked first in the race to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36). The Gabonese international has been offered a two-year contract to return to his former team.
Aubameyang was a fan favourite at the Stade Vélodrome during his one season in La Provence, scoring 30 goals and registering 11 assists in 51 matches across all competitions. The forward helped lead Marseille to the UEFA Europa League semi-final, where they were eliminated by eventual winners Atalanta BC.
Despite only leaving Marseille last summer, the striker’s journey with Al-Qadsiah has come to an end. However, The Phocenns are not the only team interested in plotting a free transfer for the striker. There have been reports that Premier League clubs are paying attention to his situation, as well as other Ligue 1 sides.
Marseille appear to have taken the lead, with Roberto De Zerbi giving his personal blessing for the move. The Italian had previously hoped to build around Aubameyang last summer.
