Music director and singer Amaal Mallik recently opened up about one of the most difficult periods in his life — a painful breakup in 2019, caused by religious differences. The emotional revelation has sparked an outpouring of support online, including a heartfelt response from his father, veteran musician Daboo Malik.

Daboo Malik's Emotional Message to Amaal

Reacting to a post shared by SCREEN on Instagram, which highlighted Amaal’s recent interview where he spoke about his personal struggles, Daboo Malik wrote a moving comment: "Son … Remember Your Father is always there … I know your pain and I love you to eternity … there can be none like you …" (accompanied by red heart emojis)

The post referenced Amaal’s candid confessions about his heartbreak, family challenges, and professional betrayals during the time he was working on Kabir Singh.

Amaal Recalls His Breakup and Lost Love

In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Amaal Mallik reflected on a relationship that ended in heartbreak.

“There was something I was with and it didn't culminate into anything beyond that point. The girl I was in a relationship with at that point three-four months down the line she got married... There was a beautiful relationship in my life from 2014 till 2018-2019. After that I never felt that kind of feeling in my heart ever and that love again.”

He added that religious and cultural differences played a major role in the relationship not moving forward: “It was such a pure and beautiful relationship. We both knew it maybe will never culminate into anything because there were lot of rigid, religious and understanding factors from the girl's side and her parents."

He continued, "And someone in Bollywood, musician, they just didn't want to have that for their kid... There was this gig I was about to perform, when she called me and said, 'I'm just going to get married, but you come through now I'll not get married'.”

Amaal said he refused because her parents never respected his family or his work: “Her parents don't respect and support my career and family.”

Struggles Within the Family

Earlier this year, in March, Amaal opened up about his strained family ties and mental health battle. In a now-deleted Instagram post, he revealed: “I have been robbed of my peace, drained emotionally and maybe financially too — but that’s the least of my concerns. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings.”

He clarified that his decision to distance himself from family wasn’t out of resentment but was essential for his well-being: “From now on, my interactions with my family will be strictly professional,” he shared, expressing his need to reclaim peace.
