
UPSC Jobs: For the first time after Ladakh got the status of a Union Territory, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has approved direct recruitment of 232 gazetted posts here. This decision was taken in an important meeting held at the UPSC headquarters in New Delhi on Monday. This high-level meeting was attended by Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Secretary of Ladakh, UPSC Secretary Shashi Ranjan, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Prashant Lokhande, and Secretary of Ladakh Administration, Mr. Michael M. D'Souza.
The need to fill the gazetted posts lying vacant in Ladakh for a long time was discussed in the meeting. Despite the closure of its annual application process, UPSC approved the recruitment given the special circumstances of Ladakh. Dr. Kotwal, Chief Secretary of Ladakh, thanked the UPSC and said that this decision has brought golden opportunities for the youth of Ladakh and will also strengthen the administrative system.
These seats will be filled in the first phase.
In the first phase, 125 Medical Officers, 75 Lecturers (School Education Department), and 32 Accounts Officers (Finance Department) will be recruited. Recruitment for the remaining posts will be done in the second phase. The dates of recruitment and the entire process will be announced soon.
Preparation for recruitment in Ladakh Police as well, a new board has been formed.
With this, the Ladakh Home Department has reconstituted the Ladakh Police (Subordinate) Service Recruitment Board under Order No. 65-Home of 2025. The board will be headed by Shri Vikas Kumar, IPS (SSP Traffic Ladakh and DIG Leh-Kargil Range). Senior officers included in the board include Altaf Ahmed Shah, Fulzele Piyush Niraakar, Nitin Yadav, Shri Rijin Sangdup, and Mohammad Ali.
Recruitment process
Recruitment for non-gazetted posts will be done in three phases:
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
Written test
