Do not make these mistakes regarding FASTag.
Most people use Fastag so that they do not waste time at the toll plaza during a long trip on the highway. FASTag is an electronic sticker. It has a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip. It is pasted on the windscreen of the vehicle. It is attached to the driver's bank account or Fastag wallet. With the help of Fastag, toll tax is paid without stopping at the toll plaza. This saves time and fuel. However, some mistakes in the use of FASTag can cost the vehicle owners and drivers heavily.
If you show a FASTag in your hand, you will have to pay a fine.
Many vehicle owners pass through the toll by holding it in hand or by keeping it on the dashboard instead of pasting it on the windscreen of the vehicle. This not only creates a jam at the toll plaza, but there is also a possibility of fraud and technical glitches in the system. This generates a wrong chargeback, the tag can be misused even when the toll is closed, and the entire electronic toll collection system is affected.
NHAI will blacklist immediately
NHAI has announced to take strict action against such 'loose fastag', i.e., 'tag in hand'. Now, if found doing so, the FASTag will be immediately blacklisted or hotlisted. This means that your vehicle may have trouble passing through the toll plaza, and you may also be fined.
Double tax will be levied on blacklisting.
According to these new rules, if the FASTag remains blacklisted for one hour before reading or 10 minutes after reading, then payment will not be made. If this happens, you will have to pay double tax.
Charges will have to be paid even on an insufficient balance.
If the balance in the FASTag is low or the FASTag is blocked for any reason, then the transaction will also be rejected. If these rules are ignored, a double toll tax will be charged from the vehicle owner as a penalty. A balance of at least Rs 100 should be maintained in the fastag account. With this, you can travel on toll tax without any interruption and penalty. Also, you will be able to avoid blacklisting.
