Every Tesla car is a perfect example of the modernday colloquial “software on wheels”. It won’t be wrong to describe a Tesla as a softwarerun gadget rather than a mechanical device. The Elon Muskled EV manufacturer takes pride in providing cuttingedge technology in every offering.
At the same time, the company constantly keeps on updating its preexisting software across all its models in a phased manner. The Austinbased electric vehicle manufacturer has announced its upcoming software rollout under version 2025.26.
Tesla software update: Grok
The biggest update is the addition of Grok, the inhouse artificial intelligence (AI) platform of X (formely Twitter). For reference, both X and Tesla are headed by Elon Musk. Grok is now available in Tesla vehicles equipped with AMD Ryzenbased infotainment systems. To use the feature, vehicles must have either Premium Connectivity or access to a WiFi network. Earlier this week, Elon Musk confirmed that the company had begun integrating Grok into its vehicle lineup. This latest update is currently being released exclusively in the United States.
Notably, in its current beta version, Grok is accessible via the infotainment screen, allowing drivers and passengers to engage in generalpurpose conversations. However, the chatbot does not support voice commands for vehicle functions such as adjusting climate controls, setting navigation, or opening the glove box. As a result, Grok does not replace or interfere with the existing incar voice command system—at least for the time being.
Tesla software update: Light Sync
The newly introduced Light Sync feature allows interior lighting to respond to music and reflect the colors of album artwork. This feature is currently available only on newer models, including the latest Model 3 and Model Y, as well as the upcoming versions of the Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck to be launched in 2026.
Tesla software update: Audio setting update
In the latest software update, Tesla introduces custom audio presets, allowing users to save multiple EQ and sound settings to match their listening preferences.
Tesla software update: Dashcam update
With the latest software update, the Dashcam Viewer in Tesla has gained zoom and playback speed controls. Moreover, the software update also adds a new grid view for Cybertruck footage for easier access and review of recordings
Tesla software update: Onboarding Guide
For brand new Tesla users, the company has added a new feature which helps users get familiarised with the hightech functionality of a Tesla. The new Onboarding Guide offers a rundown of key features such as how to adjust driver settings, using the touchscreen as well as controlling lights, wipers & Autopilot features with the steering wheel, among other functions. This feature is currently available only in the lefthand drive versions of the new Model 3 and Model Y.
Tesla software update: Charging Info at Arrival
The update further enhances charging information by indicating whether a location requires valet service, paid access, or entry codes. Additionally, it provides users with detailed onsite information, such as the availability of restrooms and the specific floor level of the charging station.
