Fauja Singh dies

Fauja Singh, a famous marathon runner of Punjab and Britain, died on Monday evening in a private hospital in Jalandhar. According to the information, around 3:30 pm, when he was crossing the road in his village Beas, an unknown vehicle hit him. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead there. The incident deeply shocked the sports world and his fans.

Fauja Singh was born on 1 April 1911. According to his biography, he could not last till the age of five. India’s partition influenced his life, and after many family members died in accidents, he began running to recover from depression. He moved to England with his son in the 1990s and participated in the marathon race at the age of 89.
