BMW S 1000 RR hits 1,000 sales mark in India

The newgen BMW S 1000 RR was one of the biggest twowheeler highlights at the 2025 Auto Expo. The latest iteration of the litre class superbike made its global debut last year followed by its launch in India earlier this year. It was the first litreclass superbike to launch in the country in 2009.

BMW Motorrad has now sold 1,000 units of its flagship motorcycle in India. The German brand recently handed over the 1,000th unit of the S 1000 RR to a customer named Varun Yadav in Delhi. The latest iteration of S 1000 RR takes plenty of learnings from the World SBK series.

Available as a fullyimported CBU,  BMW offers the S 1000 RR in three variants: Standard (Rs 21.30 lakh), Pro (Rs 23.80 lakh) and Pro M Sport (Rs 26.05 lakh). It gets plenty of updates over its predecessor which makes it a more potent machine on the track. For starters, the high windscreen, side winglets, and the design of the lower triple clamp contribute to improved aerodynamics and assist in maintaining high speeds.

Aerodynamic efficiency is also enhanced around the front wheel area, where the new RR incorporates brake cooling ducts, referred to as Brake Ducts. Additionally, the new M shortstroke throttle is designed to offer smoother throttle input and more precise control without requiring significant hand or wrist movement.

The S 1000 RR is equipped with the familiar 999cc inline fourcylinder engine, delivering 210hp at 13,750rpm and 113 Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm. According to BMW, the motorcycle can reach a top speed of 303 kmph and has a kerb weight of 197 kg. There are three ride modes on offer as standard: Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race.
