New Delhi: Former Indian captain Anil Kumble said the team management should motivate Jasprit Bumrah to play in the last two Test matches. India suffered a 22-run loss in the Lord’s Test where the team was all-out for 170 chasing a target of 193 runs. With this defeat England took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. BCCI plans for Bumrah The BCCI had earlier announced that Bumrah would only play three Tests on the England tour to manage his workload. However head coach Gautam Gambhir rested him in the second Test despite his brilliant performance at Leeds. Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep performed well in the absence of Bumrah in Birmingham and played a key role in Indias 336-run victory. Kumbles opinion: Bumrah should play both next Tests Kumble believes that Bumrah should play in Manchester if India want to stay in the series. He said If I was part of that group I would definitely ask Bumrah to play the next match because he is very important. If he doesnt play and India loses the Test the series will be over. I think Bumrah should play both the Tests. He said we only know three Tests. will play but after that there is a long break you can rest in the home series but the next Test should be played by Bumrah.” Kumble said this to Jiostar after the Test match ended in London on Monday. Captain Shubman Gill did not give a clear answer on Bumrah There is no official statement from India regarding Bumrah. Captain Shubman Gill when asked about Bumrah’s availability after the Lord’s Test said only “You will know soon.” Team India fails to win Test in Manchester India have not won a single Test match in Manchester so far. At this ground India have played a total of nine Tests five of which were drawn and England won four. The last time India played a Test here was in 2014 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in which India suffered a crushing defeat by an innings and 54 runs.
