
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall in many parts of the country in the coming week. The department has also issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rains in many states and union territories.
There is a possibility of rain in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East-West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan between July 16 and 21. During this, very heavy rains are expected in Jammu and Kashmir and East Rajasthan on July 16, Uttarakhand on July 17, 20 and 21 and East Uttar Pradesh on July 16-17.
Monsoon activities will also remain strong in East and Central India. Heavy rains are likely at isolated places in Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and West Bengal. Very heavy rains may occur, especially in Western Madhya Pradesh on July 18 and East Madhya Pradesh on July 16-17.
West India has been warned of torrential rains in the valley areas of Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra on July 20 and 21, while parts of Gujarat may receive heavy rains on July 16.
Northeast India is expected to continue with light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. At the same time, heavy rains may occur at some places in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Tripura between July 19 and 21.
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall till July 21. Strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph are also likely in this region. Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on July 16.
