WTC Points Table 2025-27: India Reeling After Lord's Loss, Australia Dominate Rankings After Historic 27 All-Out
timesnownews | July 16, 2025 11:01 AM CST

Pat Cummins-led Australia defeated the West Indies 3-0 to increase their lead over other teams in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 standings. Australia won the third Test by 176 runs on July 14 after tying the hosts, the West Indies, for a pitiful 27 runs, the second-lowest innings score in Test cricket history. Australia, the WTC 2023 champions, are leading the points standings.
England is not far behind. England are now in third position after a thrilling 22-run victory at the Lord's Cricket Ground. Sri Lanka and the team captained by Ben Stokes have the same winning %. Sri Lanka is ranked third in the Test series against Bangladesh after one victory and one tie at home.
India suffered a severe setback with a close loss. In the current Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, they have only won one of three Test matches. For the Shubman Gill-led team to even the series and mount a comeback, they must win in Manchester.

WTC 2025-2027 standings

2 England 3 2 1 0 24 66.67
3 Sri Lanka 2 1 0 1 16 66.67
4 India 3 1 2 0 12 33.33

6 West Indies 3 0 3 0 0 0
7 New Zealand - - - - - -
8 Pakistan - - - - - -
9 South Africa - - - - -

West Indies and Bangladesh, meanwhile, have not yet recorded a victory. On their visit to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh was able to salvage a draw, but the Australians outperformed the West Indies at home. Batting collapses were common in Test cricket because West Indies hitters lacked the patience and technique to bat for extended periods.
South Africa, Pakistan, and New Zealand have not yet participated in a Test match this cycle. Later this year, the reigning champions, South Africa, will start their campaign. Two Test matches will be part of their multi-format series trip of India.
