In the new report of QS Best Student Cities 2026, four big cities of India - Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai have been ranked among the 130 best cities in the world. The biggest and special thing among these is that Delhi has been considered the cheapest i.e. most affordable city of students in the world.
This ranking has been released keeping in view the quality of cities for students, in which many parameters like study opportunities, employment prospects, quality of life, security and affordable life were taken into consideration.
According to the report, Delhi is not only at the top in terms of affordability i.e. living at a low cost, but is also becoming the choice of students around the world for the educational environment.
The report said that Delhi has got the first place among the cheapest cities in the world. Apart from this, Mumbai and Bangalore have also got a place in the top 15 affordable cities, which is a matter of pride for India. The cost of living, food and education in these cities is much less than other global cities.
Globally, Delhi has got 111th place, Mumbai 128th, Bangalore 129th and Chennai 130th place. Although no city of India could reach the top 50, but these cities of India have performed brilliantly on important parameters like affordability and quality of education.
To be included in this list, the population of any city should be more than 2.5 lakhs and it is necessary to have at least two globally ranked universities there. The presence of institutions like Delhi University, JNU, IIT, Mumbai University, IISc Bangalore in big cities of India has helped these cities to be included in this list.
This report also makes it clear that India is gradually strengthening its position in the field of international education. Experts believe that if policies and resources continue to improve in the coming years, India can become the preferred destination for students from all over the world for education.
