Tesla’s next big move: Find out where you can supercharge your Model Y
24htopnews | July 16, 2025 10:03 PM CST

Tesla is leaving no stone unturned as it enters the Indian market with the Model Y. This SUV is the world’s bestselling EV and is priced from Rs 59.89 lakh, exshowroom. The EV is available in two versions — the standard RearWheelDrive and Long Range RearWheelDrive. Tesla has decided not to introduce the Model Y Long Range AllWheel Drive in India.

With the glitz and glamour of Elon Musk and Tesla, many forget that it’s the company’s stateoftheart Supercharger network that made the EV manufacturer what it is. With the vast and fast charging network, Tesla was one of the first companies to break the myth that EVs can’t be used for longdistance road trips. With the launch of the Model Y, Tesla has announced that the V4 Supercharger network will be established in India. Initially, the US EV maker will set up four V4 Superchargers each in Mumbai and Delhi NCR.

Locations to juice up Model Y

Tesla has already revealed that Model Y owners will be backed by the company’s fabled V4 Supercharger network. According to Times Now, the National Capital Region will get four Supercharger locations — Aerocity, Saket, Gurugram and Noida — while Thane, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Lower Parel, and Navi Mumbai are in Mumbai. Speaking to a Tesla executive, Reuters reported that the company has plans to put up 16 Superchargers even in malls. Tesla will establish its service centres starting from Mumbai and Delhi.

Tesla V4 Supercharger: What is it?

According to Tesla, the latest generation of V4 Supercharger has the capacity to deliver up to 500 kW per car. With the sole aim to charge the EV faster and efficiently, the V4 Supercharger offers the Model Y a range of 267 km in just 15 minutes.

A Supercharger comes standard with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug, but Tesla will introduce converters that are compatible with CCS2 (Combined Charging System / IEC 621963), which is available in India. This is a smart move by Tesla, as other EV owners will be able to utilise the charging station. Globally, nonTesla vehicles are allowed to recharge at a Supercharger station, but the price is higher as compared to a Tesla owner.

For now, a Model Y owner can buy a converter that allows them to plug in the EV to the current charging setup in India or for home charging.
