In the first ODI played in Southampton, India chased the target of 259 runs and defeated England by four wickets. It has become India’s biggest successful run chase against England on foreign soil.

After this, Emma Lamb and captain Nat Cyver-Bunt made an important partnership of 71 runs for the third wicket. Lamb scored 39 runs in 50 balls with the help of four fours, while Cyver-Bunt scored a useful innings of 41 runs off 52 balls. However, the team lost the wickets of both these set batsmen till the score of 97 runs, which led to pressure on the middle order.

Sophia Dunkle and Ellis Davidson Richards played a key role in grooming England’s innings after the initial tremors. The two shared a brilliant partnership of 106 runs for the fifth wicket and brought the team to a respectable score. Dunkley scored 83 runs in 92 balls with the help of nine fours.

At the same time, Richards stabilized the team’s innings by scoring 53 runs off 73 balls. In the final overs, Sophie Aclestone played an unbeaten innings of 23 runs. From India, Sneh Rana and Kranti Gaur took two wickets each, while Amanjot Kaur and Mr. Charani took one wicket each.

Deepti Sharma handled the innings in difficult circumstances
