Salman Khan shares personal memories, talking about how his father got a cycle for him for 25 paisa an hour

When Salman Khan is in a jovial mood and at an event — it clearly shows. When he was done talking on stage, he made sure that he passed on the mike to each and every one of the junior racers who were standing mostly tongue-tied on stage. While all of them had the same answer about how they were speechless sharing the stage with him, he egged them on to share a bit more about themselves.

All this took place at the unveiling of Season 2 of the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), of which Salman is a brand ambassador. The Free Press Journal was present at the event.

Salman shall also be joining in as investor, giving a boost to the motorsport in a bid to make it mainstream and make it a household name.

When Salman took bikers to the hospital

“I’ve always been a rider — from cycles to motorcycles. I don’t do this too often now, but I still do it at the farm; they helped me make a track at my farm. I don’t do jumps, because if I fall then I won’t be able to shoot for a few months due to the injuries. I live in Bandra, and the highway through which we go to Film City, there’s a group of guys who ride bikes there, and I myself have carried at least four kids to the hospital. There have been a lot of deaths on the highway due to racing. So I just say that if you need to race, we have the ISRL; practice and race with us, for a larger sum of money.”

How Salim Khan taught little Salman to ride a cycle

“I remember one experience when I was learning how to ride a cycle. So he was holding me, holding the seat, and he put me ahead and I thought he was still holding me. I took a turn and I came back and I saw him standing in front of me — I realized that he wasn’t behind me! But because I thought that support was there, that my father was holding me, I had that confidence.”

A hug...and some roasting

A little girl was in the audience vying for Salman’s attention, and he made sure to interact with her and give her a hug. While interacting with the junior racers who were on stage, he made sure to highlight the only girl among them, saying, “I’m standing next to you because of what you’ve done!”, when she said that she couldn’t believe that she was standing next to him — someone whose movies she grew up watching.

Coming back to the little girl whom Salman hugged, he engaged in some fun banter with her parents, which was quite hilarious, especially if you notice Salman’s expressions. Although, he may have gone a tad bit too far when repeatedly mentioning how lucky the husband was to have her as his wife: “It’s proof that there is a god!”
