Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot: What we know about the viral clip, marriage, and the company
ET Online | July 18, 2025 2:00 AM CST

Synopsis

Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was thrust into the spotlight after he was filmed in a seemingly intimate moment with his HR head Kristin Cabot at a Coldplay concert in Boston. The pair were caught on the stadium's kiss cam, prompting immediate speculation about an affair. Byron, who is married with two children, quickly pulled away as the camera lingered. Social media erupted, and attention soon turned to his wife Megan, whose Facebook profile also came under public scrutiny.

What began as an ordinary night at Boston’s Gillette Stadium quickly became a media storm when Andy Byron, CEO of tech firm Astronomer, was caught on the kiss cam with Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer. The pair appeared cosy before they noticed they were on the big screen. Byron ducked out of view while Cabot covered her face with her hands.

Chris Martin, Coldplay’s frontman, didn’t let the moment pass without comment. From the stage, he said, “Oh, look at these two,” drawing laughter from the crowd. Then, he added, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re very shy.”

The reaction was immediate. Phones lit up, videos were uploaded, and within hours, the clip had travelled far beyond the concert venue.

Who are Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot?

Andy Byron has been CEO and director of Astronomer since July 2023. The company, based around its data platform Astro, achieved unicorn status in 2022 and has built a name for itself in the data infrastructure space.

Byron’s background is steeped in enterprise software. Before Astronomer, he was President of Lacework, where he also later served as an advisor. He has led sales and operations at firms like Cybereason, Fuze, BMC Software and BladeLogic. His LinkedIn describes a career of scaling software businesses, including a notable run where he helped grow revenue at ThinkingPhones from around $20 million to over $100 million.

Cabot joined Astronomer in late 2024 as Chief People Officer. Her previous roles include senior HR positions at Proofpoint and Neo4j. She is known for describing her job as more than just HR. “I prefer to think of my role as people strategy versus traditional human resources,” she said in a company release. “There’s so much more to it, and I was energised in my conversations with Andy and the Astronomer leadership team about the opportunities that exist here.”

Byron had praised her at the time of her hiring. “Kristin’s exceptional leadership and deep expertise in talent management... make her a perfect fit for Astronomer,” he said in the press release.

Who is Megan Kerrigan Byron?

Megan Byron, Andy’s wife, is an educator based in New York. According to public records and reports, she serves as Associate Director of the Lower School and the Hope Graham Programme Admissions at Bancroft School. She and Andy live in New York with their two children.

Megan has kept a low profile, but that changed once the video went viral. Users noticed she had reportedly dropped 'Byron' from her Facebook name. Her social media accounts, filled with family moments and photos from holidays and graduations, were flooded with comments. Some offered sympathy. Others criticised her husband.

“Andy Byron’s wife is absolutely gorgeous. What an incredible fool to do this to her!” one user wrote, while another said, “Heart chain for Megan.”

Social media erupts

Once the video spread online, reactions poured in across TikTok, X and Instagram. One user posted, “Sorry for the wife but glad they're being exposed and embarrassed.” Another commented, “This is the Internet’s biggest scandal today. CEO of Astronomer got caught cheating with his head of HR at a Coldplay concert.”

A third summed it up bluntly: “That ‘oh shit’ moment though.”

Others were more sympathetic to Byron’s wife, Megan. One user on X wrote, “Who would trust Andy Byron when his own wife can’t even trust him?” Another added, “Andy Byron’s poor wife will wake up this morning and her entire world will collapse.”

Silence from Astronomer

Despite widespread attention, Astronomer has not released a statement. Neither Byron nor Cabot has addressed the incident publicly. Newsweek and Men’s Journal have reportedly reached out for comment, without response.

The company’s leadership page still lists both Byron and Cabot in their roles. As of July 2025, Byron’s LinkedIn remains unchanged. In fact, earlier that month he had appeared on NYSE TV to promote Astronomer's $93 million Series D funding round and discuss the platform’s role in enabling AI development.

Astronomer, in its own words, describes itself as “the company behind Astro, the industry-leading data orchestration and observability platform powered by Apache Airflow.”

What we know so far

There’s no official confirmation of any relationship between Byron and Cabot beyond the video. But the public response has already made its mark.

From stadium banter to online firestorm, a split-second kiss cam moment has become a full-blown spectacle involving a CEO, an HR head, and a marriage now under the spotlight. Whether it remains just a moment or becomes something more serious is still unclear.

For now, the silence from those involved speaks louder than any statement.
