The month of Sawan is considered to be the most sacred time of worship of Lord Shiva. Shiva devotees perform fast, Jalabhishek and worship during this period. But for years, a question has been continuously revolving in the minds of women, can women touch the Shivling or not?
This question has answered the famous saint Premanand Ji Maharaj, and his answer breaks many stereotypes. According to him, Lord Shiva is not only men but also the gods of women and eunuchs, and everyone has the right to worship them.
Read what Premanand Maharaj said
Shiva does not distinguish between women and men
Premanand Maharaj said in clear words, “Shiva is not just of men, he is the God of all, women, men, eunuchs and every soul who performs devotion.” He said that whoever does devotion with true heart, Shiva adopts them, even if it is of any gender.
This statement comes at a time when questions are constantly raised in social media and society whether women should not offer water on Shivling or are forbidden to touch them.
Religion does not mean isolation, but includes
Premanand ji, citing religious texts, said that no religion does not remove anyone but connects. If a woman wants to offer water to the Shivling with her reverence, then why should she be stopped? He said, “When Shiva himself took the form of Ardhanarishwar, then how should they accept that they do not let women come close to them?”
Need to change society
Maharaj Ji called upon the people that we should try to understand religion except the stereotypes of the old times. He said, “Due to ignorance, women have been stopped from many religious works, but today is the era of knowledge. We should spread the right information.
