Sanjay Singh, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP, said before the meeting that his party is “not part of the INDIA bloc.” The INDIA bloc was for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. We fought alone in the Haryana and Delhi Assembly elections. We will contest the election in Bihar alone. We fought the Gujarat and Punjab by-elections alone. Singh said, “The AAP is not a member of the INDIA bloc.”
Singh attacked the Congress and questioned its leadership of the opposition coalition. “This is not a game for kids. Following the Lok Sabha elections, did they have any meetings? Was there a plan to broaden the INDIA bloc? “Did it contribute to maintaining opposition unity?” he asked.
A day after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results, on June 5, 2024, the INDIA bloc had its last meeting. The AAP and TMC were among the 21 parties present at the conference.
The INDIA group is anticipated to debate a number of important topics on Saturday, including Operation Sindoor, the request for a discussion on the Pahalgam incident, and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Bihar electoral registers.
The talks are also expected to touch on US President Donald Trump’s assertions that he has put an end to the conflict between India and Pakistan as well as the effort to remove Justice Yashwant Varma, who is involved in a dispute after burnt currency wads were found at his home following a fire.
Call for the statehood of J&K
The Congress is stepping up its efforts to restore statehood in Jammu and Kashmir with a protest in Kashmir on Saturday, part of a series of demonstrations that will culminate in a “Chalo Delhi” campaign on July 21.
Workers from every J&K block and district would go to Delhi on July 21 to stage rallies in front of Parliament, according to J&K Congress chairman Tariq Hameed Karra. “We’ll try to stage demonstrations in front of Parliament and use it as a symbolic gesture. Our objective is to make our voice heard in Delhi so that it reaches every member of Parliament, including the 233 members of the INDIA bloc that backs us, Karra said.
Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Mallikarjun Kharge, the president of the Congress, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday to urge the government to introduce legislation to include the Union Territory of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution and to push for legislation in Parliament to grant J&K full statehood.
In response, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “This is a good thing,” and praised the Congress leaders for bringing up the matter. I appreciate Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge bringing this up. Nothing that hasn’t already been promised to us is what we’re asking for. We have often been assured that the moment is perfect for us to become a state. Jammu and Kashmir need to become a state shortly.
Congress of Karnataka’s Convention
The “Sadhana Samavesha,” a gathering to highlight the accomplishments of its state administration, is scheduled to take place in Mysuru on Saturday by the Karnataka Congress.
It is anticipated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will officially launch and lay the groundwork for development projects totaling Rs 2,658 crore.
The convention is being viewed as a show of strength by Siddaramaiah, despite his own denial of this idea, as the government is under pressure over the June 4 Bengaluru stampede, which will be investigated by a commission led by retired High Court judge John Michael Cunha, and concerns about whether he would remain CM in the face of party factionalism.
