Steelbird is ramping up its presence in the premium helmet segment. The latest from the homegrown manufacturer is called the SXE, and just like its name, it has quite a few interesting bits to get riders excited about. The SXE is the first madeinIndia motorcycle helmet that comes equipped with TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) energyabsorbing liner.
Priced at Rs 3,599, the SXE has been designed to deliver superior safety, improved comfort, and modern styling. The company says the helmet caters to the modern generation of riders who value both protection and performance on every ride. The new SXE helmet is developed under Steelbird’s Advanced Safety Series and sets new benchmarks for protective gear in the Indian twowheeler segment.
IndustryFirst Protection with Global Certification
What makes the SXE stand out is its multilayer impact absorption system. It combines a highimpact ABS shell, an EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) liner, and a revolutionary TPE layer. This triplelayer configuration is engineered to effectively manage both linear and rotational impact forces, significantly lowering the risk of traumatic brain injuries (TBI). The TPE layer alone helps reduce rotational impact forces by nearly 20%, providing a substantial safety upgrade over conventional helmets.
The SXE meets dual certification standards: India’s BIS IS 4151:2015 and the USA’s DOT FMVSS 218 safety protocols. These certifications ensure that the helmet is globally compliant and capable of providing reliable protection across different riding conditions and environments.
Premium Features Tailored for Indian Riders
Alongside its robust safety credentials, the SXE also prioritizes rider comfort and usability. Its aerodynamic design reduces wind resistance and rider fatigue, making it ideal for long rides and highspeed travel. A precision airflow ventilation system, which includes strategically placed intake and exhaust vents, helps regulate internal temperature and ensure optimal airflow in hot or humid conditions.
Additional thoughtful features include breathable, hypoallergenic inner padding with thermoformed construction, ensuring longterm shape retention and sweat management. Integrated reflective fabric inserts — particularly a reflective strip around the neck — boost nighttime visibility and rider safety on dimly lit roads.
The SXE’s dual visor system features a clear outer visor and an internal smoke visor, providing seamless adaptability to varying light conditions. The inner sun shield offers instant glare protection, while the helmet’s Pinlockready design ensures fogfree visibility in all weather.
In terms of design, the Steelbird SXE appeals to the young and styleconscious segment. It is available in two versions — a sleek painted finish with over 13 colour options and a dynamic decal variant. The helmet also features the signature SXE logo with Ecodome technology, lending it a distinctive, premium look. Offered in sizes ranging from Small (560 mm) to ExtraLarge (620 mm), the SXE ensures a snug fit for a wide range of riders.
