Every wish of the devotees who come here is fulfilled

According to experts and local people, devotees of Mankameshwar temple have a strong belief that whoever comes here with a true heart with a wish, his every wish is fulfilled. There is a continuous flow of devotees here throughout the year, but especially during the month of Sawan and the festival of Shivratri, a huge crowd of devotees gathers here. In Sawan, there is a fair like atmosphere here.

A cow created the Shivling

It is said that a very interesting and spiritual story is associated with this ancient temple. About 750 years ago, a cow of the village used to go to a particular place every day and start shedding milk on a pile of soil. The villagers were astonished to see this sight and they excavated that place. What came out in the excavation was a Shivling, which we worship today in the name of Mankameshwar Mahadev.

Mysterious inscription, whose language is still unknown

A few years after the construction of the temple, when it was being renovated, an ancient inscription was found here. Even today this inscription is safely installed in the temple premises. But the surprising thing is that till now no one has been able to find out in which language it is written, which makes this temple even more mysterious.

This is the place of penance of Goddess Parvati

According to the belief of the devotees, this place has also been the place of penance of Goddess Parvati. It is said that the Goddess had performed rigorous penance here to attain Lord Shiva and finally Bholenath had appeared before her. With this religious story, this temple has also become a sacred memory of Shiva-Parvati love.

The waterfall flows in the temple pond for 12 months

If we talk about other mysteries of this temple, then there is a Gaurikund in this temple which has a waterfall. Water comes in this waterfall all 12 months. People take bath in this Kund and believe that every wish made there is fulfilled by Mata Gauri and Lord Shiva.

A unique crown is mounted in the temple

People here say that the crown placed in the temple was offered by the Gwalior State. Years ago, the Gwalior State had offered three crowns, one of which is installed in Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain, one in Omkareshwar and one here in Mankameshwar. People have many beliefs and stories to this temple. This is the reason why this years old temple remains the center of faith of the people even today.
