Anshul Kamboj has been drafted in as cover after left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was ruled out of the Manchester Test due to a deep cut on his bowling hand.
Just days before the crucial fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford, Team India has been forced into a squad reshuffle as injuries mount in their fast-bowling department. Amid injury crisis report has emerged that Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj has been drafted into Test side.
Anshul Kamboj added to Team India squad
According to Indian Express report, Anshul Kamboj has been added as a cover for Arshdeep. He was previously part of the India A squad that faced England Lions earlier this year. The right arm pacer impressed with five wickets and a fifty across two unofficial Tests.
The 24-year-old also made headlines in domestic cricket by becoming only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to claim all 10 wickets in a single innings.

Arshdeep sustained the injury while trying to stop a straight drive from Sai Sudharsan during a practice session earlier this week. The blow required stitches, and according to a source quoted by , “He has stitches on his hand and is likely not to be available for the fourth Test match. The Indian team will see if he is ready for the fifth Test or not.”
To make matters worse, Akash Deep the star of India’s win in the second Test at Birmingham with a 10-wicket match haul—is also a doubtful starter. He picked up a groin niggle on Day 4 of the Lord’s Test, wincing in pain and leaving the field mid-over. Though he returned to the field later, he didn’t bowl again that day. His fitness is being closely monitored ahead of the Manchester Test.
The double setback comes at a time when India's pace unit is already under strain. Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in the fourth Test remains uncertain, and there are growing concerns about Mohammed Siraj’s workload heading into a must-win game.
The fourth Test begins on July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester, where India will need to win to stay alive in the series. With their pace attack heavily depleted, all eyes will be on the team management’s decisions over bowling combinations
