Ajay Devgn’s ‘Drishyam’ has become one of Bollywood’s most talked-about suspense-thriller franchises with both previous parts achieving major box office success. Fans are now eagerly awaiting the third installment. Meanwhile the original Malayalam version directed by Jeethu Joseph is also in the works. Though filming has not yet begun the director recently cleared the air regarding rumors that the Hindi version will start shooting first. What did Jeethu Joseph say? In a recent conversation with Mathrubhumi Jeethu Joseph confirmed that the Malayalam version holds priority since it’s the original story. He revealed that there was a proposal to shoot both the Hindi and Malayalam versions simultaneously but no final decision has been made. Initially the Hindi makers had planned to begin their shoot earlier but that idea was dropped after a legal warning was hinted at. Joseph emphasized that the story belongs to the Malayalam team and any breach could lead to legal consequences. When the filming of Drishyam 3 commence? Jeethu Joseph further stated that he is currently focused on completing the screenplay. The Malayalam version of ‘Drishyam 3’ is set to begin filming in October 2025 and only after that will work on the Hindi version resume. Speaking at an event Joseph said “I finished writing the climax just last night. It’s been weighing on me for a long time but I’m glad to have wrapped it up.” About the ‘Drishyam’ Universe The franchise began in 2013 with the Malayalam film ‘Drishyam’ starring Mohanlal. It tells the intense story of a simple man named Georgekutty whose life turns upside down after a police officer’s son goes missing. The gripping narrative and emotional depth of the film earned it massive praise and led to remakes in several languages: Kannada (2014) with V. Ravichandran Telugu with Venkatesh Daggubati Tamil (2015) with Kamal Haasan and the Hindi version with Ajay Devgn which added its own unique flavor to the storyline. Now as both Malayalam and Hindi fans await the next chapter it’s clear that the third part will again aim to keep audiences guessing till the very end.
