Montpellier midfielder Joris Chotard (23) could finally be on the move this summer, with AJ Auxerre, FC Nantes, and Belgian giants Anderlecht among the clubs interested in signing him.
After Montpellier’s relegation to Ligue 2, the club is looking to offload some of its higher-value assets, and Chotard — under contract until 2026 — is among the most in-demand. According to The teamthe Hérault club is hoping to raise around €3m from a sale.
Chotard has resumed pre-season training with the squad but a departure remains very much on the cards. Last summer, the midfielder came close to joining Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, who had submitted a €7m bid. However, MHSC sporting director Bruno Carotti turned the offer down, anticipating further interest that never materialised.
Now, with Montpellier’s status diminished following relegation, the club is less likely to command such a fee. Chotard, for his part, has reportedly already rejected two offers from Greek sides, preferring to wait for the right project.
