In today’s digital age, where the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasing rapidly, new controversies to it are also coming out. Latest research has claimed that AI is discriminating in the process of job selection and this discrimination is against men. Research has told that women, whose merits were equal to men, were given priority by AI.
This research by Professor David Rosado of New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology has raised serious questions on the future of AI. He said that today many big companies of the world are dependent on AI tools for hiring, but if there is bias in these tools, then it indicates a serious threat.
Women get preference in 22 AI models
Professor David Rosado tested a total of 22 major language models (LLMS) like Chatgpt, Gemini and Grok through the same profiles. He prepared resumes similar to the names of women and men and saw that every time the female candidate was given priority. This pattern in every model It has been seen whether it is on any platform.
The reason is not clear, but the concern depth
Rosado said in an interview to Newsweek, "This pattern can show the complex interaction between the pre-training data, anotation process or system-level guards of the model. But the real reason for such behavior is not yet clear." Research also states that this discrimination is not casual, but is repeatedly giving the same result.
30,000 hiring cases
Women candidates were selected 56.9% of the 30,000 fake job simulation under this study. This figure is clearly different from the principle of gender neutrality (50–50), which suggests that AI’s decisions are not sexually balanced.
Danger bell for male candidates
Professor Rojaado warned that this discrimination can gradually be deepened, so that qualified male candidates can get less opportunities. When the gender column was included in the resume, the chances of women being selected increased even more.
