The government has officially decided to form an 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) for central government employees. MPs in Lok Sabha asked these questions
Regarding the 8th Pay Commission, MPs TR Balu and Anand Bhadoria in the Lok Sabha questioned the government, they are as follows.
- Has the government formally notified the formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission after the government announced in January 2025?
- If yes, give details of it and if not done, then why was it not made even after six months?
The government replied in Parliament: The government has decided to form the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC). For this, suggestions have been sought from the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Personnel and Training Department and States.
- When will the chairperson and members of the Commission be appointed and what will be the reference?

- When will the revised pay scale for employees and pensioners applicable?
- The government replied: When the 8th Pay Commission will give its recommendations and the government will approve them, then it will be implemented.
Employees and pensioners will benefit
The formation of the 8th Pay Commission remains a great hope for not only employed employees but also for pensioners. About 67 lakh government pensioners also make a difference from any change in the salary structure. The earlier pay commissions have included changes in the formulas and facilities of pension calculations and this time also some such changes are expected.
The mixing of inflation relief (DR) in basic pension also affects pensioners, because their monthly pension is related to it. Changes in basic data can lead to a big change in the pension amount received every month. Unions of Ritty Employees have also reiterated the concerns of the existing employees and have demanded more transparency from the government regarding the new calculation of pension.
How much can salary increase?
According to the report of Ambit Capital, after the 8th Pay Commission, the minimum wage of central government employees can be increased to Rs 40,000 to 45,000, and there will be a change in pension with it. There will be DA reset, but more allowances may be compensated for the reduction in initial increments.
The 8th Pay Commission is going to bring big financial changes for government employees and pensioners. However, the report said that due to the government process, necessary approval and budget balance, it may be delayed in implementing it and it can move beyond the deadline of January 2026.
