Olympique de Marseille have confirmed that an impending return for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36) has been delayed. The former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea striker had turned down significant offers from Saudi Arabia in order to return to Ligue 1 and the club he scored 30 goals for during the 2023-2024 season.
Aubameyang was due to land at Marseille’s Marignane airport at 19:15 CET Tuesday evening before undergoing a medical and signing a contract at the club. “The club is working closely with all parties involved to finalise this move in the best possible conditions and as quickly as possible,” reads a statement from the club sent to Tezzbuzz.
The Gabon international’s arrival is however, not in doubt. Aubameyang is expected to sign a two-year deal with The Olympiansafter terminating his contract with Saudi side Al-Qadisah. His arrival to Marseille is expected to be completed shortly, but not this evening.
