How will the new WhatsApp look now?
In the new beta update, users will be logged out of their old WhatsApp account and they will have to link the account again. After setup, the interface of WhatsApp on Windows will not be the same as the desktop app before, but now it will look completely like WhatsApp Web.
New experience with Microsoft Edge WebView2
The new app is based on Microsoft Edge WebView2 technology, which means that it will work like a web browser inside the app. Although it will have all the WhatsApp features like Channels, Status and Communities, but according to reports, it can use more system resources than the old app.
Part of Meta's new strategy
Meta has already downgraded its Messenger app on Windows and now WhatsApp has also been brought on the same path. Both these apps are now being given the same behavior as the web version on the desktop, which is an indication of Meta's new strategy.
Important information for users
To run this new WhatsApp beta version properly, it is necessary to have the latest Microsoft Edge installed on your system. The new interface no longer shows Windows design elements and its experience will feel like a browser like WhatsApp Web. This beta version is currently available for beta testers but it is expected that its full rollout will start soon.
It is not yet clear whether the same change will be applicable to MacBooks or not, but experts believe that this feature can soon be included in macOS as well. Along with this, WhatsApp has also launched a new split-screen interface app for iPad users, which makes use easier on the tablet.
