Synopsis

Kristin Cabot resigned from her Chief People Officer role at Astronomer shortly after CEO Andy Byron also stepped down. Their departures followed a viral video from a Coldplay concert showing them in an intimate embrace, sparking controversy due to both being married to other people. The incident led to public relations challenges and an internal review by Astronomer.

Kristin Cabot Resigns from Astronomer Amid Viral Scandal
Kristin Cabot, who had served as the Chief People Officer at data science platform Astronomer since November 2024, has officially stepped down from her executive role. The company confirmed her resignation through a spokesperson, who shared the update with Page Six on Thursday. Her exit comes just a few days after Andy Byron, the organization’s chief executive officer, also relinquished his position.

"“I can confirm that Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer; she has resigned,” a spokesperson revealed.

Viral Video Sparks Controversy

The controversy surrounding both executives erupted after a video taken during a Coldplay concert near Boston, Massachusetts, on July 16 drew national attention. As the band’s ‘kiss cam’ spotlighted a man and woman appearing to embrace intimately, the pair attempted to hide their faces.

The scene caught the eye of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, who jokingly remarked that the two might be engaged in a secretive relationship. The couple in question was later identified as Byron and Cabot. The footage quickly circulated online, turning them into trending figures for all the wrong reasons.

Corporate Repercussions and Internal Action

Due to the widespread media exposure and the perception of impropriety, Astronomer began facing serious public relations challenges. The organization’s board accepted Byron’s resignation on July 19, initiating an internal review of the situation. Pete DeJoy, one of the company’s co-founders, has stepped in temporarily to serve as interim CEO while the company works to stabilize its leadership.

Personal Lives Thrust into Spotlight

Kristin Cabot is legally married to Andrew Cabot, who currently serves as the CEO of Privateer Rum. Based on real estate filings accessed by The New York Post, the Cabots co-own a $2.2 million four-bedroom residence styled in the classic New Englander design, purchased earlier this year in February.

In parallel, Andy Byron is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron, and the couple are parents to two children. After the video of the concert interaction went viral, Megan reportedly dropped her husband’s last name from her Facebook profile and later deactivated her account completely.

The incident has sparked ongoing debates about workplace ethics, personal boundaries, and executive accountability.
