Despite a quiet outing in the ongoing fourth Test match against England at Manchester, Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah etched his name into the record books by overtaking a legendary figure in world cricket.

While he managed to claim just one wicket in the match so far, Bumrah crossed a major career milestone, leaving behind Pakistan’s iconic fast bowler Wasim Akram in terms of international wickets taken in England.

Jasprit Bumrah now holds the record for being the second-highest wicket-taker among Asian bowlers in international matches played in England.

He has taken 82 wickets in 39 innings, edging past Wasim Akram’s tally of 81 wickets in 46 innings. The only player ahead of him is Pakistan's Mohammad Amir, who tops the list with 87 wickets in 52 innings.

With India still playing the fourth Test and at least one more Test to go in the series, Bumrah has a strong chance of overtaking Amir and becoming the leading Asian wicket-taker in England.

So far, Jasprit Bumrah hasn’t been as impactful in the fourth Test as expected. Bowling a total of 28 overs, he conceded 95 runs and managed just a single wicket.

While the pitch in Manchester hasn’t offered much assistance, Bumrah’s overall series performance remains commendable, making this milestone all the more significant.

England currently holds a strong 225-run lead over India’s first innings total of 358. At the crease is England captain Ben Stokes, who is edging closer to a well-deserved century. His presence remains vital for England as they look to stretch their lead further and tighten their grip on the match.

The standout performance from Day 3 came from Joe Root, who crafted a magnificent 150, breaking multiple records along the way. His knock helped England build a commanding position and frustrate the Indian bowlers, who toiled without much reward.

As Day 4 progresses, India’s immediate focus will be to wrap up the England innings quickly and begin their second innings strongly.
