Delhi Police Officer's Suicide Shocks Community

A shocking incident has emerged from Delhi, where a 29-year-old sub-inspector of the Delhi Police, Savita, took her own life at her residence in Rohini. This tragic event occurred on Friday, prompting the police to initiate an investigation under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The officer, identified as Savita, was a member of the 2021 batch and was stationed at the Aman Vihar police station in outer Delhi. According to reports, she was found hanging at her home in Sector 11 of Rohini.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareswar Swami stated that the incident was reported on Friday afternoon from the Sector 11 area. The female officer, originally from Chhara village in Haryana's Jhajjar district, resided on the third floor of an apartment in Rohini.

The police are currently conducting inquiries with the family as part of the investigation under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

It is worth noting that there have been previous reports of suicides among Delhi Police personnel. On May 19, 2025, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) allegedly took his life due to mental stress in the GD Colony area of East Delhi. The deceased was identified as Lalit Sirohi, who was stationed at the Usmanpur police station.

Reports indicate that Sirohi lived with his family in a rented flat. According to officials, his wife had left for school with their children around 8 AM on Monday. Upon her return, she discovered Sirohi in their room, covered in blood, with his service pistol nearby. The family rushed him to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after examination.
