Mumbai: The Asia Cup 2025 was in limbo for several months due to the tensions between India and Pakistan.
Originally scheduled to be hosted by India, the tournament itself became uncertain following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 innocent men were killed in the picturesque Baisaran valley.
Thankfully, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) managed to work out a face-saving formula, and the UAE was announced as the hosts.
Set to be held from September 9 to 28, the Asia Cup T20 meet will feature eight teams, divided into two groups.
All eyes will obviously be on the India versus Pakistan clash. Placed in Group A along with hosts UAE and minnows Oman, the traditional rivals will confront each other on September 14 — most probably in Dubai.
It will be their first confrontation on a cricket field after the Pahalgam massacre and Operation Sindoor. It was in February that the two nations last met, with India comfortably beating Pakistan by 6 wickets in a group league match of the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai.
In Group B of Asia Cup 2025, Afghanistan, Bangladesh Sri Lanka and Hing Kong will fight it out.
Here are the full fixtures:
The top two teams from each group will qualify for Super 4, where the teams will face each other once, before the two finalists are identified. Hence, there are chances of 2, if not 3, India versus Pakistan clashes in the Asia Cup 2025.
