WATCH: Dhawan's Epic Reply To Reporter Asking About Ind vs Pak Semi-Final Clash
ABP Live Sports | July 27, 2025 8:41 PM CST

The cricketing world was eagerly awaiting a high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025.

However, the match was abruptly cancelled just 12 hours before the scheduled start, reportedly due to protests by Indian players.

Now, as the Asia Cup 2025 approaches—set to be hosted by the BCCI—another India vs Pakistan face-off is expected on 14 September. Amid the build-up, former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has once again made his stance clear.

Following the cancellation of the WCL 2025 match, Pakistani players had blamed Dhawan for influencing the decision. Recently, when a Pakistani journalist questioned him—asking if he would still refuse to play if India and Pakistan meet again in a semi-final of WCL tournament—Dhawan’s response was direct and unapologetic.

He replied, “Bhai sahab, you’re asking the wrong person. If you think I’ll change my words under pressure, that won’t happen. I didn’t play earlier, and I won’t play now either.”

This firm stand has sparked mixed reactions online, with many praising his honesty, while others criticized the larger implications for cricket diplomacy.

Political Tensions Overshadow Cricketing Ties

The Asia Cup 2025 tentative schedule, that started doing rounds on social media from 26 July onwards, includes up to three possible encounters between India and Pakistan.

But recent events—particularly the Pahalgam terrorist attack—have soured diplomatic relations, raising questions over the appropriateness of such matches.

Many fans have voiced their opposition to the India-Pakistan clashes, citing national sentiment over cricketing ties. Dhawan’s remarks have only intensified the public debate, with the spotlight now on the BCCI and what course of action it will take going forward.
